Opening for Baxter Black

We were the opening act of Baxter Black, a cowboy poet and humorist with nationally syndicated radio show and column. He also has a TV show on RFD TV. Despite our distances, we came together for one final performance at this event at the Fair Grounds in Cedarville. Here are some photos of the event. Photos by Jan Winje.

Chili Cook-off 2007

We played in the afternoon from about 3 to 5. Then we did a short gig in the evening starting at 8 p.m. It was a cool evening, but wind had calmed by then. A few dedicated fans stuck it out and kept making requests till we begged -- "no more!"

Wings of the Warners 2007

It was our anniversary of one year as a band and we had a blast playing at the Migratory Bird Festival in Alturas. The temperature was perfect and everyone was happy. A wonderful day.

Hello Mary Lou!

Owen and Laura start out our set at the Veteran's Park in Alturas. It was a beautiful day and an appreciative crowd.

Ring Tail Hawk

This gorgeous Ring Tail Hawk was at the Migratory Bird Festival. He lives at Turtle Bay in Redding, but came up with other birds to help educate us on their needs.

June Jamboree

June 17, 2007 We played two sets at the Modoc County Library June Jamboree. It was at Baker's Garden outside of Alturas, CA. The weather was perfect. The garden was beautiful. The crowd was festive. The Civil War club was fascinating. The birds were entertaining. We like to think we weren't too bad ourselves.

2006 Holiday Craft Fair

We played at the holiday fair at the Fair Grounds in Cedarville. We lived up to our name, jamming to every Christmas song we knew. We also played at the Senior Citizen's Christmas Lunch in December 2006.

First Gig

Our first gig was at Wings of the Warners, the Modoc County Migratory Bird Festival, on Sept. 16, 2006. Left to right are Laura on fiddle, John on guitar, Will on Mandolin, and Owen on Banjo. It was a cold day, John was smart and wore half gloves. The rest of us suffered with cold and slow fingers.

Our beginning

The Wild Plum Jam began because the Modoc Migratory Bird Festival committee needed some music played. A few friends who play at local jams got together to provide the needed music. Then someone said, "we should form a band and do this more often." So we did.
